Cameron Darcy

New Zealand

(relocating to NZ and not taking clients until October)

Cameron has relocated to New Zealand after 12 years of living in Hong Kong. He has had a lifetime interest in exploring what makes individuals who they are and the ways in which people can get more out of life.  Cameron has valuable personal insight into what it is like for someone new to counselling to build up a working relationship and strongly believes the rapport between client and counsellor is key to positive outcomes. He uses a holistic person-centred approach, and a range of theories and actions to suit each particular client. He encourages individuals to actively participate in the therapy process and takes the view that most change occurs outside of the counselling room when an client starts to reflect on the sessions and make changes. He takes the lead from each person as to whether they want to engage in deeper exploration of their lives, or whether they are more interested in problem solving in the here and now. He has experience in online counselling as an alternative to face to face sessions for people who are unable to come in person.

Cameron works with older teenagers and adults dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, resilience, chronic health, body image issues and life changes.

He engages in community work with refugees, individuals of the LGBTIQ community and generally likes to support people who are left out of the conversation when it comes to getting support in society.

He works on a sliding scale of fees according to the situation of each person. Feel free to discuss this with him.

Emily Drakeford

Hong Kong

Emily is from the UK, and completed both her undergraduate, and masters degree in Psychology at the University of Leeds, and has since undertaken her Masters in Counselling after moving to Hong Kong. She believes that the client-therapist is central to effective therapy and is committed to working to develop a safe, non-judgmental, compassionate,  environment in which clients are able to freely explore potential barriers that prevent them reaching their potential. She understands that the client is in control of their journey, and works to empower the client by encouraging them to tap into their internal resources, allowing them to develop more effective problem-solving and coping strategies. She adopts an eclectic approach, including CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness.  She believes carefully understanding each client's needs and adapting to how they may change over the therapeutic process is essential.
Emily has a Masters in Psychological Approaches to Health, and is interested in unlocking the motivation to engage in positive health behaviours, and the strong connection this has to psychological being.  She  has also spent ten years throughout the UK, Singapore and Australia supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorders through the use of Applied Behavioural Analysis, and has worked closely with families and schools to implement behavioural programs, and group therapy, within the home and school environment. In Hong Kong, she works with the refugee community on both an individual level and also within the family to offer support. She also has worked closely with teenagers, understanding the pressures of school work and the school environment. In addition, Emily has an interest in supporting parents as they navigate the constant changes, demands and pressure of parenting within a changing society.  She also welcomes clients wishing to address self-esteem issues and relationship difficulties.
